My Journey Into Mental Health
I started my career in social work thinking I’d help people in a broad, practical way, never imagining mental health would become my deepest passion. But that all shifted during my graduate internship at an outpatient community mental health clinic. There, I worked side by side with people facing some of the toughest mental health challenges life can throw at you.
In those moments—listening, supporting, and just being present—I saw how much of a difference compassionate care can truly make. I watched people slowly begin to believe in themselves again, regain hope, and find strength they didn’t even know they had. That clinic became more than just a training ground; it was the place where my purpose snapped into focus.
That experience changed everything for me.
I realized that mental health care isn’t just about diagnoses and treatment plans—it’s about showing up for people when they need it most, meeting them with empathy, and believing in their ability to heal. That’s when I knew: mental health chose me; I didn’t choose it. And from that point on, I’ve been committed to helping others find the peace, clarity, and support they deserve. My Journey Into Mental Health
My Passion
My passion is supporting women who shoulder the immense weight of life’s challenges. Often viewed as pillars of strength within their families and communities, women frequently find this perception overshadowing their genuine need to express vulnerability, seek support, and honor their authentic selves. At ReNew Yu Counseling, my practice is wholly dedicated to guiding these remarkable women through the complexities of unresolved trauma, navigating life’s personal obstacles, and creating safe spaces for genuine and open expression.
Drawing from my personal journey, I deeply resonate with the unique struggles many women face in balancing external strength while feeling compelled to suppress their internal truths. My commitment lies in empowering women to reclaim their full authenticity—helping them heal from past wounds, confront present challenges, and confidently envision futures where strength and authenticity coexist harmoniously.
Through empathetic engagement and personalized therapeutic methods, I facilitate transformative experiences where clients learn to view their internal struggles not as burdens, but as powerful sources of resilience and strength. At ReNew Yu Counseling, we move beyond traditional therapy by actively dismantling the barriers that prevent women from living authentically, guiding them toward renewed balance, fulfillment, and personal liberation.
By fostering a nurturing environment built on trust, understanding, and respect, I am dedicated every day to transforming minds and restoring lives. My mission extends beyond addressing mental health concerns—it’s about empowering women to courageously break free from societal expectations, embracing their vulnerability as a profound and authentic source of power.

Education Experience
I hold a Doctorate in Clinical Social Work from the University of Kentucky and a Master’s degree in Social Work from Louisiana State University. These academic foundations have allowed me to deepen my clinical expertise and enhance the support I provide to clients navigating complex emotional challenges. I’m also a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP), which equips me with the tools to effectively understand and treat trauma—an area that is central to the healing work I do.
At ReNew Yu Counseling & Mental Wellness, my education and certifications guide a care approach that’s both intentional and deeply compassionate. I’m committed to walking alongside clients as they work through life’s challenges, rediscover their strength, and create meaningful change. I believe therapy is a powerful tool for transformation—and I’m honored to be part of that journey with you.
